Sparks Award 

The ASU Alumni Association proudly recognizes chapters that host impactful programs and demonstrate a commitment to university values. Chapters that align with ASU's goals by revolving around education, community service and student support are eligible for the prestigious SPARKS Award. This annual award honors chapters for organizing specific programs that connect Sun Devils around the world, empower communities and support future ASU leaders.

Sparks Requirements for Geographic Alumni Groups
To qualify for recognition, geographic alumni groups should organize the following programs:

1. ASU Cares
   A national initiative encouraging alumni to give back to their communities through volunteer service projects each spring. Events should foster civic engagement and can include community clean-ups, food drives, mentorship programs and more.
2. Tillman Honor Run
   A 4.2-mile run held every April to honor the legacy of ASU alumnus Pat Tillman, with proceeds supporting the Tillman Scholars Program for military veterans and their spouses​.
3. Summer Send-Off Program Support
   Providing support to incoming ASU students by hosting send-off events that connect new students with alumni and provide insight into Sun Devil life.
4. Scholarship Awards
   Recognizing and supporting future Sun Devils through chapter scholarships to help ease financial burdens for deserving students​.

Sparks Requirements for Special Interest Alumni Groups
Special interest alumni groups can earn recognition by hosting the following programs:
 

1. ASU Cares
   A national initiative encouraging alumni to give back to their communities through volunteer service projects each spring. Events should foster civic engagement and can include community clean-ups, food drives, mentorship programs and more.
2. Student Outreach Events
   Events dedicated to connecting with and supporting current ASU students, providing them with resources, mentorship and guidance as they pursue their academic journeys.
3. Community Relations Programs/Events
   Initiatives designed to engage alumni in their local communities, promoting ASU values and creating networking opportunities.
4. Scholarship Awards
   Recognizing and supporting future Sun Devils through chapter scholarships to help ease financial burdens for deserving students​.
