Capital Scholars Alumni Chapter
Mission Statement:
This group was established by the School of Politics and Global Studies at Arizona State University as a way for past and current participants, ASU faculty, and supporters of the Capital Scholars program to professionally engage with one another. Alumni of the program work in various sectors all over the country, each one connected by a meaningful summer experience at the launching point of their individual careers. Through the Capital Scholars Program, students experience Washington, D.C. as a summer intern and earn 6 upper division credits. Students work at organizations of interest to them — options include, but are not limited to, the White House, Congress, courts, government agencies, lobbying and consulting firms, advocacy groups, media outlets, museums, think tanks, and non-profit organizations.
Core Values and Objectives:
- Facilitate: connections between alumni of the program. These connections are important for exchanging information about opportunities and sharing ideas between Alumni and interested students.
- Engage with former, current and future ASU Capital Scholars in a network that connects them to the university, and to each other through active communication, events, and various digital spaces.
- Maintain the principles of the ASU charter by promoting inclusivity and success within the Alumni Chapter.
- Expand on the Capital Scholars experience by sharing stories of success in Washington DC, and beyond to those who have interest in the Capital Scholars program.
