Founders' Day Faculty Research Achievement Award

The Faculty Research Achievement Award is presented annually to an ASU faculty member whose innovative research assists individuals and communities in Arizona and around the world. The award is presented at the annual Founders’ Day dinner celebration held at the Arizona Biltmore.

Selection criteria:

  • Service as a full-time ASU faculty member for at least five years.
  • Excellence in research and/or creative activity.
  • Impact of the nominee’s research and/or creativity.
  • Benefits of the nominee’s work to students.
  • Usefulness of the nominee’s work.
  • Accessibility of nominee to students.
  • Publication record.
  • Participation in professional organizations, including offices held.

To successfully submit an application, please submit the following:

  • One letter of recommendation
  • A vita/résumé of the nominee.

The Founders’ Day award committee’s decision is final. In addition, the following conditions apply.

If selected, the nominee should be:

  • In attendance at the event, held in the Spring in Phoenix, Arizona. Learn more about Founders’ Day event details.
  • Available and open for photo/video shoot and/or any interviews needed for the event production.

Founders' Day Faculty Service Achievement Award

The Faculty Service Achievement Award is presented to an ASU faculty member whose innovative efforts and services to ASU and to the community has made an impact on the nation’s future leaders. The award is presented at the annual Founders’ Day Dinner celebration held at the Arizona Biltmore.

Selection criteria:

Because the service award primarily recognizes excellence and professional accomplishment, a nominee is judged by:

  • Service as a full-time ASU faculty member for at least five years.
  • Service to Arizona State University and/or the community.
  • Beneficial service to students.
  • Useful service to others.
  • Significant contribution.
  • Participation in professional organizations, including any offices held.

To successfully submit an application, please submit the following:

  • One letter of recommendation
  • A vita/résumé of the nominee.

The Faculty Teaching Achievement Award is presented to an ASU faculty member who delivers an educational experience that creates impactful, transformative narratives regarding issues facing the world, and expands the minds of students to help discover innovative solutions. The award is presented at the annual Founders’ Day dinner celebration held at the Arizona Biltmore.

Selection criteria:

Because the teaching award primarily recognizes excellence and professional accomplishment, a nominee is judged by:

  • Service as a full-time ASU faculty member for at least five years.
  • Knowledge of the field.
  • Presentation of subject matter.
  • Ability to motivate students and stimulate interest in nominee’s field.
  • Ability to engage students in classroom participation.
  • Student evaluations.
  • Evidence of mentoring students.
  • Participation in professional organizations, including offices held.

To successfully submit an application, please submit the following:

  • One letter of recommendation
  • A vita/résumé of the nominee.
