Which groups or activities were you most involved in at ASU? What did you gain from that involvement?
I was actively involved with my fraternity, Delta Kappa Epsilon, while I was at ASU. I learned how to lead my peers and I gained lifelong friends and connections. I have continued my involvement with the fraternity, and currently act as an alumni advisor. I was also involved with the American Nuclear Society ASU chapter; this afforded me the ability to interact outside of class with students of all levels pursuing a similar degree as my own and individuals working full-time in my field. I am envious of the opportunities available to students at ASU today and encourage current students to take advantage of them.
How did your education at ASU prepare you for your current job or business?
My engineering education taught me to be a good problem solver and to use my time efficiently. When I helped start my current company, those skills were critical; in a new company there are always problems needing to be solved and never enough time.
How did ASU help you achieve your dream?
ASU gave me the education and the connections necessary to reach my dream. I mentioned that I wished I had been more involved in other activities at ASU; the reason to get involved is to make those connections for later in your professional career. I also established many enduring friendships, which exist to this day; my life is fuller and richer because of these friendships. ASU continues to help me professionally by providing high quality graduates who I am eager to hire to help my company grow and succeed.
What has been your support and involvement in the Alumni Association since you left the university?
What are the benefits of giving back to ASU through your volunteer efforts?
The greatest thing about volunteering with the Alumni Association is that I have been fortunate to meet incredible Sun Devil alumni. ASU has such diverse alumni that I am always intrigued by the unique stories and life experiences shared by those I meet. By staying involved with ASU, I am also able to hear about the countless amazing things being done by ASU students, faculty, and alumni. The ASU community is growing at such an incredible rate – new and exciting things are happening at ASU every day!
What are three “can’t-miss” ASU experiences every Sun Devil should participate in?
