William Kreitzer, '24 BS

I started out as a a single father with two daughters, one with profound autism recently diagnosed working full time as a cnc machinist. I was hoping to finish my engineering degree, and instead ended up with much more than that. Over a nine year journey with multiple stops and starts, I learned an incredible amount about myself, my resilience, and my abilities. Jason Bronowitz, the dean of the TEM program, showed incredible care for me and my personal journey as did many of the professors. I honestly don't think I would have succeeded without the level of engagement I had over the course of this journey. Towards the end of my studies, I transitioned from machining to programming to manufacturing engineering in aerospace and now work as a senior engineer at one of the most sought after defense tech companies in the world. I also have a somewhat successful business of my own working on developing an app for caregivers of individuals with disabilities. ASU helped me learn how to learn effectively and how to share my insights with others, to question the standards and norms, to make connections in new and unusual ways, and most importantly that we are all capable of achieving our dreams. For that I will always be grateful.
