Raquel Stout, '25 MEd

My journey at Arizona State University came at a time when I was already an experienced educator, but I wanted to continue growing so I could better serve my students and expand my opportunities for the future. Through ASU's Early Childhood Education and Special Education program, I deepened my understanding of child development, inclusion, and research-based instructional practices while continuing to teach full-time in a fourth-grade accelerated classroom.

What I remember most fondly are the professors, coursework, and experiences that challenged me to think differently about teaching and learning. One of my favorite memories was being able to immediately apply what I was learning in my courses to my classroom. I wasn't just completing assignments. I was bringing new ideas directly to my students, watching them grow, and seeing the impact firsthand. impact firsthand.

ASU helped shape me both professionally and personally. The program strengthened my confidence as an educator, encouraged me to reflect on my practice, and helped me become a stronger advocate for students with diverse learning needs. While I currently teach upper elementary students, earning this degree has prepared me for the day when I am ready to transition into early childhood education and special education. Knowing I have the skills and knowledge to support young learners at all stages of development has opened new possibilities for my future.

Earning my degree was a proud accomplishment, but the greatest reward has been the lasting impact it continues to have on my classroom and career. Every day, I use the knowledge and skills I gained at ASU to help students develop confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning. ASU helped me become a stronger educator, leader, and lifelong learner, and I am proud to be a Sun Devil.
