ASU Alumni News

The ASU Alumni Association recently received five 2012 American Inhouse Design Awards from Graphic Design USA. The awards recognize organizations and individuals who have demonstrated outstanding work in the field of graphic design across all types of media, including print, collateral, advertising, sales, promotions, logos, Internet and packaging.
This year, graduates from Arizona State University’s class of 1962 are invited to return to their alma mater for their Golden Reunion on May 3 and 4. The Alumni Association hosts this special two-day event each year, allowing classmates from the university’s 50-year reunion class and their guests to reconnect with each other and ASU, as well as giving them the opportunity to lead the procession during the university’s Spring Commencement.
The Arizona State University Alumni Association recently announced travel itineraries for the rest of 2012, as well as 2013, in conjunction with a travel showcase set for May 10 and 11.Through Sun Devil Destinations, members of the ASU Alumni Association can continue their pursuit of lifelong learning as they travel to unique and exotic locations with other Sun Devils. Jennifer Holsman Tetreault, executive director of operations for the Alumni Association, said the program features diverse offerings so alumni can select trips that best suit their interests.
The veterans chapter of the Arizona State University Alumni Association will host its inaugural graduation reception for current ASU students from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, at the University Club Bistro, 425 E. University, Tempe.
The March 2012 edition of ASU Magazine features a cover story on the development of ASU's most cherished traditions and an article profiling three families who have produced multiple generations of proud Sun Devil alumni.
ASU's Student Alumni Association (SAA) will host its annual mud volleyball tournament, Oozeball, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, at the athletic fields located at the northeast corner of Rio Salado Parkway and Rural Road in Tempe.Oozeball is played in fields that are filled with water, allowing students to play a muddy game of volleyball. ASU students can sign up their teams with a minimum of six players and a maximum of nine players.
Arizona State University alumni will be actively involved in honoring the legacy of former ASU Sun Devils and Arizona Cardinals football player Pat Tillman in conjunction with the popular Pat's Run being held in Tempe on April 21, 2012.The 4.2-mile run/walk, which last year drew more than 35,000 people, is the signature fundraising event for the Pat Tillman Foundation, which was formed after Tillman’s death in 2004. Proceeds from Pat's Run support the organization's Tillman Military Scholars program.
Arizona State University alumni across the nation will be participating throughout the month of March in volunteer projects in their local communities to lend support to organizations ranging from food banks to humane societies. The project is a part of ASU Cares Day, which encourages Sun Devil alums to take part in volunteer projects that promote civic involvement. More than a dozen alumni chapters from Seattle to Washington, D.C., will participate in ASU Cares Day projects this year. Here is a brief overview of the activities that have been planned.
Arizona State Young Alumni (ASYA), a program of the Arizona State University Alumni Association, is seeking applications from ASU alumni under age 35 with strong event planning, public speaking, fundraising, community engagement and business development skills to serve on its Young Alumni Council.
ASU Alumni Association President Christine Kajikawa Wilkinson recently was named as one of Arizona's "48 Most Intriguing Women" as part of the state's Centennial Legacy Project. The designation was granted to a select group of contemporary women whose leadership and commitment have contributed in a positive way to the future of Arizona during the state’s celebration of the centennial of its statehood.
