What is SAA?

The Student Alumni Association (SAA) was founded in 1983 and is one of the largest student organizations at Arizona State University. Serving as ASU’s primary tradition-keeper, SAA strives to create lifelong Sun Devils through time-honored events, memorable college experiences and lasting relationships. Echo from the Buttes

Each year, first-year students are invited to hike up historic ‘A’ Mountain and paint the A white to signify the start of a new school year. As one of the longest-standing ASU traditions hosted by SAA, this event is the perfect opportunity for students to meet and connect while marking their place in our beloved Sun Devil community. 

Homecoming Parade

Homecoming is an ASU tradition that brings together students, families, alumni and the community to celebrate Sun Devil spirit. During the parade, SAA members navigate a float and march through the heart of campus on University Drive, engaging with hundreds of Sun Devil fans. 

Turnaround trip

Hop on the bus and head to Tucson with us to watch ASU take on the school down south on Saturday, November 30! Cheer for your Sun Devils as they fight to bring the Territorial Cup back home to Tempe.

  • Guarding the ‘A’ – Guard and protect the A on ‘A’ Mountain from Wildcat fans who attempt to paint our A red! 
  • No Pity for the Kitty T-shirt Exchange – Trade in a red shirt for a brand-new gold ASU shirt to wear at this year’s ASU vs. UA football game. 

Volunteering with SAA

 

As a member of SAA, you have the opportunity to volunteer at ASU events and gain access to several professional development opportunities. By volunteering, you can take advantage of networking with influential community members and meeting potential mentors to help enhance your career journey.

Awards

Moeur Award

 

The Moeur Award was named for Dr. B. B. Moeur, a physician and businessman in Tempe in the early 1900s. The association has presented the Moeur Award since 1901 to those graduates with the highest academic standing who have completed their course work toward their degree while attending ASU with 8 consecutive fall and spring semesters. Recipients are honored at each commencement ceremony.

All undergraduate students with a 4.0 GPA and who meet the criteria (listed below) will receive the Moeur Award. In addition, only students that apply for graduation by the University deadline will be eligible for the Moeur Award.

The key requirements to receive this award are:

  • Cumulative ASU GPA of 4.0.
  • All coursework must be completed at ASU subsequent to high school graduation.
  • Attendance must be consecutive, fall and spring within 8 semesters. Summer and winter enrollment are acceptable and not counted in the 8 semester limit.
  • No transfer students are eligible; no transfer hours are acceptable (even if the transfer hours are not being used to meet degree requirements).
  • Second undergraduate degree students are not eligible.
  • Student(s) must have applied for graduation by the University deadline as published in the Academic Calendar.
